I raised my kids on Watonga cheese. We lived in Northern Oklahoma back then and most grocery stores carried it. After the factory closed from the terrible storm, I moved to California. I was delighted when they opened up and I was able to start ordering online. I like the original yellow cheddar. The delivery is fast and the packaging keeps it cool. The flavor is a delicious deep longhorn like flavor and the curds are delightful to snack on. I would highly recommend them to anyone that likes cheese and hope to see the product in grocery stores near me soon.
I saw the blocks of "chocolate cheese" and thought, 'huh, chocolate covered cheese. Might be interesting.'
Then I bit one and thought, "Oh my God it's not chocolate-covered, it IS FRIGGING CHOCOLATE CHEESE." I don't know how they did it, but wow.
The habanero cheddar is wonderful. But that almost goes without saying; it's hard to go wrong with spicy peppers!
Overall... Love it.
Watch out for the bacon cheddar; the bacon is cooked, but the moisture soaks back into it from the cheese and makes it feel raw in your mouth. That can be a good thing if you like your meat very rare, so no points off for it; I need mine crunchy though.
Watonga cheese and Watonga cheese curds are some of the best cheese in the world. I ate them as a kid from the factory in Oklahoma!
